What's HOT, What's NOT (Part 1)

What's HOT

- Suri's Burn book book deal

If you haven't already discovered this blog, you're missing out. Written by a fictional Suri Cruise, it's an entertaining parody of Hollywood. It never fails to make me laugh, and now it’s being turned into a book ("A study in Suri and the people who disappoint her"). Kudos to its author Ali Hagan, who deserves every success. Consider my copy pre-ordered.

"Just because you don't have a Ferragamo handbag doesn't mean you can behave like a child. (I'm looking at you, Shiloh.)...."

Suri and her attitude... there's something so entertaining about this little lady and all that she represents

 - Samsung Galaxy III

I’m all for competition. The Galaxy II was the first smart phone to really rival the iphone. Now they’ve come out with the Galaxy III. Of course Apple are suing Samsung again, alleging that it infringes on X Y and Z patents (there was huge litigation over the Galaxy II along the same lines). The only people who’ll really benefit are the lawyers, who’ll no doubt roll their eyes as they bill at $1000 per hour and enjoy the expensive dinners, $600 bottles of champagne and various other top tier perks bankrolled by the likes of Apple/Samsung.

- Online Shopping

It continues to be an obsession. Who has time to frequent shopping centres / malls when you’re working fulltime? It also makes sense to shop online when you’re stuck in an office all day and will be staring at your computer screen regardless of the specific activity. Not to mention, the sales online can be pretty damn good… and many websites are improving their services (offering free or local returns, faster and cheaper shipping etc).

What's NOT

- Suit prices

I decided I wanted a new suit for my new job (wherever this may be), and what better time to buy one than in the end of financial year sales, right? Wrong! I went shopping especially for one, and very few suits had any sort of discount. Those that did were inevitably the ugly ones. I think it might be worthwhile taking a trip to KL or HK, and investing in a few tailor made suits. If only I could keep my weight stable, so that I could justify spending $$ on real quality…

- Delta Goodrem

She’s on the cover of Vogue (disappointing choice…) and her annoying, heavily made up face is popping up everywhere. I blame The Voice for Australia’s new Delta obsession. The sooner she disappears, the better. What do people see in her?

- Tornados

Australia does not usually get random, completely unexpected tornados. Especially not less than 1km from my parents' house (not in my lifetime, anyway). Thankfully I wasn’t affected apart from being stuck in heavy traffic. The freak “mini-tornado” only lasted 10 minutes, but involved winds of up to 180km per hour and ripped the roofs off houses in the worst hit streets. I'm starting to doubt that I escaped the pain of winter by leaving Canberra, it's just a different intensity in Perth (windy and stormy as opposed to freezing cold).
