I really love Bali, and when I lived in Perth, it was a hop, skip and jump away. Here are some photos from my 2009 trip, to demonstrate my ideal relaxation holiday....
We did a bike riding tour through some quaint little villages. It was actually great exercise!
Kuta beach sunset...
Who said I'm not cultured? Pura Ulun Danu Bratan - Water temple on Lake Bratan
Sipping yummy cocktails, or in this case, delicious fresh fruit juices (mine is mango- don't you love the butterfly garnish? It's made out of pineapple...)
A friendly Balinese working in the rice paddies... the Balinese people are generally so friendly and welcoming.
The streets of Kuta, where shopping has certainly improved over the last few years. Gone are the days of being limited to tacky market stalls where you are constantly harassed to buy- now there are plenty of air conditioned department stores, housing more and more international brands.
Relaxing by the hotel pool, soaking up the sun... my favourite pass-time :-)
On top of all this, throw in daily massages ($20-$25 for an hour massage by an excellent masseuse in air conditioning and really clean surroundings), a mani and pedi, buffet breakfasts including crispy bacon and fresh fruit juices, delicious dinners at a different restaurant every night, shopping for bargains- clothes, shoes, homewares, reading a good book by the pool on a sunlounge, room service and late night swims or soaks in the spa... and you have my ideal relaxation holiday.
Sounds like a perfect holiday. Can you pack me in your suitcase next time you go?
