Click Frenzy online shopping purchases

I managed to *somewhat* restrain myself during the recent Click Frenzy sale. Here is the haul:

 Lovestruck dandelion print dress (5.95 GBP), Asos 3D multi flower collar (3.15 GBP), Beloved Fiona shirt dress with embroidered collar (14 GBP) and Asos sleeveless skater dress in colourblock (12.25 GBP). I paid in pounds because it ends up being cheaper than using their AUD/GBP conversion rate!

Fila neon aerosprinter runners - $30 delivered. These might hurt my eyes too much to use, but at the price I just couldn't resist!

Slazenger items - grey top ($5), spray jacket ($6), running pants ($5), running 3/4 pants ($5), men's hoody ($5) and men's white tennis shirt ($5) - all including postage.

I still haven’t found the perfect dress for the upcoming 1920s theme ball, I'm getting desperate! I found one I really like but its sold out:

Karen Millen does the most beautiful deco dresses but they're all around $400 on sale, and I can't justify spending that… not until I get a pay rise anyway!

Did I mention that there are some great sales online at the moment? I am still addicted to Asos despite my disappointing last order. I nabbed this dress:

Dating

I guess our relationship is official, but I'm still not sure I'm 100% committed. I suppose it's because I'm busy and tired and he wants to spendmore time with me than I do with him. Also this is going to sound weird but I know a lot of people are unsure if the guy likes them and then really happy when he does, but I'm the opposite- as soon as the guy starts getting attached I get put off, it's like the challenge and excitement is gone. It's so stupid of me but I think that's what happens and why I never have had proper long relationships. Maybe it means I haven’t found the 'right person' but I think it's more likely to be my own approach and mindset that's resulting in this.

Work

Work has calmed down a bit. People have been leaving the office at 6pm, which I am told is very unusual so I should make the most of it! Our computer server has been all buggy which has resulted in some wasted and frustrating periods of time – lucky we're not flat out!

Asos Purchases

The story goes like this. First I bought these genuine leather casual white shoes for a mere $25:

Then I got an email saying said shoes have been delayed and will take an extra week to arrive. As compensation, they provided a code for 10% off my next order. Since I really don't need the shoes in any hurry, this was a bonus and I promptly went back to look at the Asos sale.

Genuine leather on Asos is cheap as chips. I have not really wanted or needed biker boots, but I like white and these were so cheap I couldn't pass them up:

I bought these in nude several months ago and they were so soft and comfortable, I decided to buy a black pair. You can't find 100% leather ballet flats in Australia for $30, so it's well worth it. I wore the nude ones to death and they ended up being thrown away because they started looking so shabby.

Above, that's three pairs of 100% leather shoes/boots for $83.67. That's less than what you'd pay for one pair here!

Online Buys of Late

No matter how busy I am during any given week, I will inevitably find the time to shop. It's a curse!

Firstly, I bought some items from Brands Exclusive thanks to Klara from Click your Heels. I won a $50 voucher from her giveaway. I ended up spending $62 (it wouldn't let me go through with my initial order of $48 - I had to spend exactly $50 or more to redeem the voucher) so got all of the following for the bargain price of $12:

 Iko peep toe heel - claret. Do you know how hard it is to find maroon heels? I have a Diane Von Furstenberg dress that looks stunning with maroon heels. I wanted to wear it to a wedding, and I looked EVERYWHERE for maroon heels without success. I ended up settling on a pair I found online (sent from the UK), which I didn't really like and which didn't end up fitting me very well. Fingers crossed that these fit, and will replace my current pair of maroon heels.

Iko barbed wire peep toe heels with heart cut out. These are so funky and interesting, I couldn't resist!

My other buy was from Asos. They are having daily sales at the moment where selected items are reduced for 24 hours. I snapped up these Asos Mindy leather loafers with contrast sole for a bargain $30:

I wish I had shares in Asos (I'm not sure they're even publicly listed, but anyway) - they must be making a killing in the Australian market, and good on them!

Online Shopping & Mexican Fiesta

I blogged about 'the fashion fruit bowl' some time ago, and said I wanted to buy these fruit salad flats from Belle Bijoux. I couldn't justify the $20 shipping fee. A kind commenter (emmydoo) alerted me to the fact that they were having a free shipping sale, so I snapped up a pair for $30. I note that they still have free shipping so if anyone else wants a pair, jump to it - they still have all sizes in stock.

They are super duper cute. Definitely worth the $30 I paid, but the original price of $149 is a bit of a joke. They came in an Australia post satchel with no padding or protection, and some of the beads were already coming off (probably due to the poor packaging). I got the size 36, which is a little tight on me (I am a size 6.5-7 depending on the brand) but still wearable. Now to put them to use.... :-)

I also made some purchases on Asos, taking advantage of their various sales. Purchase #1, the Asos Maestro Leather Traditional Lace Up Shoe in stone, for a cool $26.30 incl postage:

Op Shopping, Ebay, Asos, Valleygirl & Ezibuy = Uh Oh

I decided to venture to Belconnen, to check out the 3 op shops there. I was going to go to the one in Macquarie as well but I was (sh)opped out. It's probably because it wasn't a super successful day, although it was fun and I did pick up 2 things. Both were from the Salvos which had all green tagged items for $1. The first is a long sleeved grey turtle neck top by Sportscraft in perfect condition- for $1 it's a perfect top to wear around the house or even with jeans for a casual look. It amazes me sometimes what you can buy for a buck... when I bought a $5 coffee later in the day, I felt super indulgent and wasteful!

The other item is this super kitsch and funny little girls dress, also $1. I plan to use it as a doll dress up for Bub's dollies:

How hilarious is it!? Does any one know where this sort of thing comes from? I'm not sure if it's vintage and was fashionable at some stage, or whether it's from another country... it doesn't have any tags.

I had more success with brand new, full priced items. Lucky I decided not to do 'Buy Nothing New Month' this month, because I'd certifiably have failed...

I am quite a fan of Valleygirl, with their super cheap clothing. As long as you are choosy, I think you can get some nice items that can be dressed up to look like they're from a much more expensive store. I bought this super colourful skirt with a hot pink skinny belt (which I'll use with other items) - $30:

 And this grey dress which will be perfect for work, and is very slimming. It was reduced to $25:

I have been particularly bad lately with online shopping, so I have some online buys to report too... Firstly, my leather Asos ballet flats arrived (see older post) (style - Asos Lady Leather Bow Ballet Pumps)

I got them for $26 delivered when Asos had a 20% off code (and the Australian dollar was stronger...). They are quite casual looking so are more for weekends than work-wear but they are super comfortable, so I'm happy. They are true to size for anyone looking to buy them (I find Asos shoe sizing to be inconsistent). Like my spotty PJ pants!?

But wait, there is more! Currently at Ezibuy, if you use the voucher code SUMMERUE, you get $20 off a $60 spend and free shipping (usually around $10 flat rate). I am such a sucker for sales and discounts, I always check them out and always find things I want to buy. I think I did pretty well at Ezibuy- my order came to $60 exactly, so I got it for $40 delivered.

Asos purchase, and a warning about their customer service

I boycotted the Asos website for a few months, but I have decided to give it a try again because they now offer an Australian returns address.  Here is the (way too long) story of Asos's terrible customer service....

It all relates to a purchase made way back in the vintage era of January 2011. I ordered a lovely Vila one shoulder dress, and what arrived was a horrible Asos maxi dress. Completely incorrect item, and by then of course the dress I wanted had sold out. 

Asos instructed me to return the dress, and said they would reimburse me for return postage and refund me for the dress. I went to the post office, had the parcel weighed and took home a list of postage quotes. I emailed Asos listing the postage quotes for different types of postage and asked how they’d like me to send it. I noted that if I posted it seamail, it could take 3 months to arrive and was uninsured – I said I didn’t want to wait this long or take any chances for a refund, since the situation was their fault. Asos quickly replied, saying they would refund the postage and the amount for the dress upon receipt of proof of postage (not upon receiving the item). 

Perfect, that's fair, I thought. I wasted yet another lunch hour going to the post office and sending it off. I scanned and emailed the receipt to Asos, filling out their forms exactly as required.

What has followed was SIX MONTHS of emails back and forth between me and Asos, asking why I haven’t received my refund. Sometimes they wouldn’t reply, another time I had to resend my scanned postage receipt, every other time they would ask question which they would already know the answer to if they kept proper records, or I was promised that they would ‘look into the issue with the finance department’... Finally, after 4.5 months and 35 emails, I received a refund for the dress (but not postage). 

It took 1.5 further months and 10 further emails to get a refund for the postage.  I suppose because I had already spent so much time and expended so much effort in getting a refund for the dress, I was angry and wanted to get some sort of positive result to finally appease my anger. 

I don’t care if the first and second postage refund cheques supposedly went missing (this is what they eventually claimed), it doesn’t take this long to sort out a refund to which I’m entitled, and there’s no explanation for why it took me so long to be refunded for the dress when I was PROMISED that if I used the cheapest postage method, I would be refunded immediately upon providing proof of postage. I don't know anyone who would define "immediately" as 6 months later.

If they cannot be trusted to refund money rightfully owed and resolve a situation where the buyer is polite, rational and makes life easy for them by listing the events in detail in every detail sent (in recognition that a different staff member may deal with it every time), they certainly cannot be trusted with higher value items or problems. I am still very unhappy with Asos, and I will not be trusting them with much of my hard earned cash.

However, I could not go past these super cheap leather ballet flats when there was a voucher floating around for a further 20% off:

 $26 for a pair of genuine leather ballet flats? Yes please!

Topshop is closer to opening in Oz - locations announced

Two years ago, we had confirmation that Topshop would be coming to Australia. Now we even know where the bricks and mortar locations will be!

MELBOURNE:
The all-new Topshop will be located in Melbourne’s Jam Factory complex and will encompass 1,300 square meters and will also offer the menswear label Topman.


SYDNEY:
The iconic Gowings building on the corner of George and Market Street will house Topshop, which is certainly a sartorial step-up from its previous tenant, Supre.


And there's more- a host of online retailers have announced that they are opening dedicated Aussie websites. ASOS is the latest to make this announcement - I just hope their prices are as good as the UK webbie. Amazon will apparently be shipping here within the next year or two as well.

The problem with Asos is returns. I had a nightmare experience getting my money back from them when they sent me an incorrect item - it took just under six months! But that warrants a post of its own, and it's likely that one day when I'm wanting to rant about customer service in general I will tell you all about it.
